美国临床病理学家协会成立于1922年，是一个专门以教育，科学和慈善为目的的非营利性医学协会组织。ASCP的任务就是提供教育，证明（鉴定），和宣扬代表患者、病理学家和实验专业人员的优点。ASCP的成员包括11000个病理学家和内科医师以及129000多个实验室专业人员包括博士水平的实验室科学家，药学技术人员、细胞学技术人员、组织学技术人员，组织学技师和医学实验技师。
