太阳系外物质是原始太阳星云最初始的物质组成,它们是太阳系形成以前其他恒星演化至晚期的喷出物凝聚而形成的物质。太阳系外物质在太阳系的形成与演化过程中残存下来,在原始球粒陨石、行星际尘粒、彗尾等物质中被发现。太阳系外物质是目前人类唯一能够获得的并能实验分析的其他恒星物质,其同位素组成是人类认识恒星内部核反应过程的重要物质。而且,太阳系外物质的丰度还可以用来示踪其小天体母体的形成与演化。
